Ismael Sanchez Martinez
I hold a PhD in Computer Science and Operations Research from the Université de Montréal, where my research focused on the design of scalable fog-computing infrastructures for secure, latency-sensitive IoT systems. My work combined mathematical optimization and simulation over distributed systems. Prior to my PhD, I completed a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science at Simon Fraser University and an MSc in Computer Science and Operations Research at the Université de Montréal, which fast-tracked into my doctoral studies.
From July 2024 to July 2025, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Université Paris-Saclay in collaboration with Genopole. My research focused on secure and decentralized genomic data sharing, applying blockchain, applied cryptography, and distributed systems to develop privacy-preserving data management frameworks.
My specialty is quantitative modelling — translating real-world problems into mathematical and computational models that can be analyzed, simulated, and solved. Alongside my academic research, I have industry experience in data science, business intelligence, data engineering, and software development, particularly in optimization, analytics, distributed systems, and machine learning. I am currently based in Toronto and am seeking opportunities where I can apply these skills to solve challenging real-world problems.
